We've created this Privacy Policy to provide transparency to our consumers about the type of information we collect, how we use, share, and protect it, and how you can make choices about how it is used, as we strive to offer you the best online experience possible.

The Plum Store, accessible via, is governed by our partner World Pantry's privacy policy. You may access our Sites from a number of different devices, such as a computer, mobile phone or tablet; however, this Privacy Policy governs your use of the Sites regardless of the means of access.

We may collect various types of information from you depending on how you interact with our Sites, as described below. We try to limit the information we collect and store to what is reasonably necessary for us to provide you with relevant services. We typically keep your information as long as we need it to continue providing you with our services. We may store information longer to comply with law, our agreements, or for other records management purposes.

Personal Information You Provide to Us

We may receive and store personal information that you provide to us voluntarily when you visit our Sites. We receive personal information from you when you register and place orders with our online store; create an account with our consumer relationship management program, Club Plum; join our email newsletter; email us a question or comment, or enter an online promotion via one of our Sites. This personal information may include things like:

  • Phone number

  • Mailing address

  • First name and date of birth of your children

  • Demographic and preference information (e.g., age, product preferences, personal interests, etc.)

If you choose to share information about yourself in a public forum, such as through a social media platform like Facebook or Twitter, or in any user-generated content area of our Sites, we consider that information to be public and not private. Remember that others who have access may read, collect and use that information as well.

Information Collected by Automated Means

We collect information about your interactions with our Sites and online ads by automated means and may combine this information with your personal information in order to customize your online experience with us. The information we collect by automated means may include your IP address, referring URLs, browser and device characteristics, browsing behavior (e.g., date and time of visit, length of visit, clicks on product information or other content), and your response to our email campaigns (e.g., whether and when you open our email, the links you click). The automated technologies we may use to capture this information include web beacons, a variety of cookies, and tags. We may also permit web analytics and other providers, like Google Analytics, to collect and process information on our Sites and in our online ads via these technologies. Collecting this information allows us to facilitate the administration and improve the effectiveness of our Sites, as well as further tailor and enhance the user experience.

Geolocation Information

Our mobile partners, on our behalf, may collect automated information on your specific location to assist you in finding our products in stores or to provide you with relevant offers.  In order for any mobile applications to identify your location in this way, you must opt-in or otherwise enable this setting through your mobile device. We have no control over the settings to allow these technologies to collect geolocation data automatically via your mobile device.  We may also affirmatively collect location information from you (for instance, your zip code) to provide you with information about where to find our products in store.

Information Collected From Other Sources

We may also collect information about you from other sources, including public databases and third parties. For example, you may opt-in to receive emails with offers from us via a third party web site/service or the Plum Store. In this case, the operator of that web site or service will send us your information so that we may fulfill your request. We may combine this information with that which we collect to improve the relevancy of our services to you.

How We Use Information We Collect

We may use your personal information:

  • to process and fulfill your purchase/orders, and to notify you of your order status or provide other related customer service

  • to respond to your inquiries and forward any information you reques

  • to send you relevant administration information regarding the Site

  • to supply you with newsletters, promotional emails, product information, event-related news, surveys, and samples, should you request to receive such communications from us

  • to personalize your experience on our Sites by presenting products and offers tailored to you

  • to identify your consumer review on our Sites, if you agree and provide that information for disclosure

  • to administer our sweepstakes, contests and other promotions, including notifying you if you win

  • We do not rent, sell or trade your personal information to third-party marketers without your prior express consent. 

How We Share Information We Collect

We may disclose your personal information to third parties who provide support services on our behalf; however, these third parties are obligated to keep such information confidential and only use it as necessary to perform such services. For example, we may share your personal information with our agencies to help us administrate a sweepstakes or contest, to process credit cards and fulfill orders placed at our online store, provide us with data analytics to customize or enhance the content on our Sites or our electronic communications to you or to provide customer service to you. We may share your information when we believe it is necessary to comply with the law or a government request, to prevent damage or injury to us or others, or to protect our rights. We update and test our security technology on an ongoing basis. We also restrict access to your personal information to those employees who need to know that information to provide you with benefits or services and we train our employees about the importance of confidentiality and maintaining the privacy and security of your personal information. While we make these efforts to help ensure the integrity and security of our Sites, we cannot guarantee our security measures. You transmit your personal information to us at your own risk.

Your Choice and Control Over Your Information

We provide you certain choices and control over our use of your personal information for marketing purposes. You may exercise your opt-out rights to stop receiving our emails, request that we no longer use your information to provide you customized services online and/or change your preferences by:

  • Clicking the unsubscribe link in the footer of any marketing emails from us and following the directions to opt-out of receiving further electronic marketing communications from us. Please note that we may still need to contact you electronically for administrative or transactional purposes

  • Reaching out to us via email, phone, or letter, as provided in the "Contact Us" section below, to make your request. Please clearly specify which electronic marketing communication you would like to opt-out of and/or exactly how you want to change, update or limit our use of your personal information.

We will endeavor to accommodate your requests in our own databases as soon as we can; however, you may need to contact third parties with whom we have already shared your personal information to ensure removal or update in those databases.

Interest Based Advertising

We may allow third parties to use online tracking tools to better understand your behaviors and browsing activities, so that we can serve you relevant ads while on our Sites and display our ads to you when you visit other web sites. These third parties may passively collect information with them so that content specific to your interests can be delivered to you online. These third-parties are prohibited from sharing any personal information we provide them with others.

Your browser may give you the ability to delete or reject browser cookies. If you block cookies, certain features on our Sites may not work. Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" feature that lets you tell websites that you do not want to have your online activities tracked. These features are not yet uniform, so our Sites may not respond to these signals from some or all browsers.

Social Media Permissions

We may ask for Facebook-provided permissions in our applications.  Access to this information must be allowed by the user and is revocable at any time through the Facebook account settings.  

Your California Privacy Rights

For California residents: We may share your personal information with affiliated third parties, some of which do not share the name Plum, PBC, for their own direct marketing purposes. Because this category of affiliates is considered to be "unaffiliated parties" under California law, you may opt out of us sharing with them. To opt out, please send a letter with your name, postal address, and e-mail, with the heading "California Privacy Rights" to the address listed in the "Contact Us" section below.

Children's Personal Information

Our Sites are directed to adults and not intended for use by children (e.g., individuals under the age of 13). We have no intention of collecting personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will use all reasonable efforts to delete such information from our database.

Links to Other Web Sites

Our Sites may contain links to other web sites, including the sites of our affiliates or other entities providing you offers. Other web sites may also reference back to our Sites. Different web sites have different privacy practices. We encourage you to be aware of this when you leave our Sites and recommend that you read the privacy statements of each web site you visit to understand the web site's privacy practices.
